When you buy a record here, or pay nine dollars a month to a musician, Stripe takes its processing fee and Phyrne takes 8%. The remainder goes to the artist's own bank account.
There is no advertising pool to divide, no per-stream rate, and nobody paying to be recommended to you. The reason you are hearing this record is that you went looking for it.

What it actually involves

Pick the tier
The artist wrote it and says what you get. Most are a few dollars a month, and the useful ones are honest about how often anything arrives. -
Email address and card
That is the whole sign-up. You are not making a Phyrne account and you are not joining the club. -
It renews monthly
Same date each month, with a receipt. If your card expires we ask you politely, and if you ignore us it lapses without drama. -
Leave whenever
One link in any email cancels it. You keep the month you paid for, and you can come back on the same tier later.
What we do not do
No recommendations, no autoplay, no profile of you
Phyrne does not build a taste profile, does not sell your address, does not queue up something else the moment a record ends, and does not have an advertising business that would benefit from any of that.
What we keep is what any shop keeps — your order, your receipt, your patronage, so that we can send the right things to the right person.
I pay four artists between five and ten dollars a month, which is less than one streaming subscription, and all four of them know my first name. One of them sent me a test pressing with a note on it.
